Adam,

running 16 or 35mm? 90% of my work is 35mm. The jj3 and especially the T jib will handle. Here's what you should suggest when talking to the D.P. The jib handles film cameras best w/ 400 mags and primes. I've had no problems w/ zooms however if you're not set up cabeling wise, you'll need to act fast and get it all. remote turn isn't that much of a problem. Jim sells Arri/Pana adapters for remote turn. Otherwise, if you're really not set up then tell the producer or AC to get a RCU for the camera.(remote control unit). With this gizmo shutter/apature, remote turn is possible. Now on to focus. The best thing to do is when they order the film package have them include a FIZ unit. This way it's an expense of the camera dept. Usually they will have one if it's a big enough job. These units are very expensive, so I would suggest having a baby and giving it to the bank !! The prestom Microservo is a good analog system, however it takes some time to calebrate to the lens. Digital motors calebrate thenselves. Some rental houses still have them, I do and it's a great backup. Find out what the shots are and sometimes when using a prime the AC will leave it on the hyperfocul distance, requiring no change in focus. lastly make sure you have either either a 24/12v dc extension for the camera, unless is's 16mm. Check out Jim's new right angle focus motor, suited more for the film side of the jib. You can do it. This system goes out more then my big rigs, people love it's ease and abilities. Good luck !
